DBK Q & A :: Cleaning Up

A client of mine asked me a few weeks back what cleaning products I use to keep my space looking clean and fresh after the design work is done.

So here is my cleaning routine:

Once a week, I vacuum all surfaces (my vac has the option to stop the roller so as not to damage hard floors), using the crevice tool to get the edge of the molding and floor where dust and dirt want to hide. Then I use a Swiffer (with the wet cloth) to go over the entry, kitchen and bathroom floors, just to pick up that extra layer of grime.

On my kitchen and bathroom countertops, I use Clorox wipes. They are a quick way to wipe up the surface, while killing any bacteria--I use them daily in the kitchen to keep it clean.

For mirrors and glass surfaces, I'm a little lax, but when I see the toothpaste splatters on the mirror, I simply use windex or other glass cleaner and wipe with a paper towel. I'm also a little lax with dusting, but when I find the time I stick to pledge on a dust cloth to wipe down wood surfaces.

Hope that helps to keep your space neat and clean! What products do you find exceptionally useful?

Happy cleaning!

  1. Erm... a cleaning person? A hubby who runs the vacuum? Seriously... my back doesn't do cleaning. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)
