Fashion :: Interiors

In the Northeast, it is so cold that I have consistently been layering my clothing. On any given winter day I can be found in 3 shirts and a sweater (and then the jacket to go on top).

In your home you can find a variety of layers as well. Especially at this time of year, you want to layer those cozy throws and pillows over your couch so when you come in from the cold you can snuggle in.

But in general, your home really should be a series of layers that correlate to those who live there. The layers of your home are something that you may add to and take away from on a constant basis. But this layering is in the details.

Your home is something that is constantly changing-- being endlessly decorated and undecorated-- and that is what will truly make the space yours. The bottom line here is: you should layer your home like you layer your winter clothing.

Happy layering!

  1. I'm a big fan of layering, and it seems I already do this in my home decor, but I hadn't thought of it that way. Love these parallels you are drawing between fashion and design!
