Perfectly Picked :: Accent Pillows

Last week we discussed picking a coffee table, this week we will discuss further accessorizing your living space with some accent pillows.

When picking accent pillows there are only a few things to keep in mind:

1. Your color scheme.
2. Your desired comfort level.

Here are some examples:

1. If you are working with a specific color scheme in mind, stick to it. Bring the paint chips that match your scheme with you when you are shopping. That way when you are picking out pillows, you will have a guideline for the right colors.

Our living room accent colors.

2. The importance of comfort and how you use the space will dictate the number of pillows you use and the fill they have. The pillow insert is important!! If you invest in a good insert that is really cozy, you can use it for quite a while and just change the cover.

Here is a good example of some pillows at one of my client's homes:

We started out with a neutral color scheme and blue accents...

...we then switched to a mostly neutral scheme, focusing on pattern mixing.

So you can see, your accent pillows really are the most obvious accessory in your living space. Not only that, but because they are the most obvious, they are the easiest way to transform your space.

You can change in sweater pillows in the winter, bright pops in the spring, etc., and constantly change the look and feel of your space.

Happy picking!

  1. I did this last summer. I added bright blue, cream and orange to our neutral (tan and denim) living room. It was fun and totally affordable.
