Celebrate the Season :: Spring!

If you live anywhere in the U.S., you've likely had a treacherous winter. From droughts in California to blizzards pretty much everywhere in the East, I think we are all ready for the rainy season!

So let's celebrate the beauty that is the spring! Late Thursday night on my way home, I ran into the local Trader Joe's just before closing time to grab some fresh florals for our place. Flowers make all the difference for me in a space, and they are the best part of spring.

I could dwell on the predicted high-pollen counts that will like lead to sniffles and aggravations, but let's just remember this: this -- along with the fall -- is the Goldilocks seasons. Not too hot, not too cold, but just right!

I plan to be taking a lot of floral photos and having fun with arranging them too. Plan yourself a little dinner party with some light spring fair and remember to soak it up!

Happy spring y'all!

Green Scene :: Inspired by St. Patrick's Day

Felling a little inspired by all of the green people were wearing yesterday on St. Patty's Day, I wanted to seek out little ways to add pops of green to your interior spaces.

I did a little search on Pinterest, literally searched "pops of green," and found these great examples of adding shades of green to your home:

Green glass jugs and natural greenery on the table
mix well with these warm neutrals and golds.

Pops of green dance around this charming children's room.
From blankets to poofs, you can easily translate this look to many spaces.

With a mostly white & ivory bedroom, the colors come from art & colorful vases
throughout the space. These Kelly Green ottomans anchor this space perfectly.

Are you a fan of the green scene, either in home or in wardrobe? I think it is a great color to add to your life. Since green can be either a cool or a warm color, it works on most people and can easily add to most spaces.

If you aren't sure if you love-love-love the look, add it in flowers. This will brighten your room and make you smile as you walk past. If you're new around here, you don't know, but I am a strong advocate of keeping fresh flowers around the house.

Simple white tulips make an easy and beautiful centerpiece.

These green leafy stems pair well with Emerald metal
farm chairs and light fixtures to create a clean & cozy feel.

Hope you enjoyed your Saint Patrick's Day, had some good grub, and good beer (if that's your thing). Would you consider adding greens to your space?

All images in this post were found on Pinterest. The captions are my own. To find more green inspiration search my boards and others.

Third Time's the Charm

After looking at many different properties, houses, condos, row-houses, etc., and offering on three...we have finally closed on our new condo!

The first look at our tiny kitchen.

I am so excited that we finally found a place! We are back in the original section of town that we wanted to be in, and only one little neighborhood over from the one we first fell for.

The first look at our tiny bathroom.

It is exciting to be moving in and getting settled here in our house!! We have picked out paint colors, the movers have come, and things are slowly coming together. We have taken this weekend to get a little bit more acquainted with our neighborhood, and check out what's happening around our part of town. There are so many fun things to do and see... I think living in the city (Jersey City) is going to be fun for this time in our life.

And the nice thing about our tiny condo (other then that it doesn't break the bank) is that it's ours.

The first look at our tiny living room.

What a relief to end this stressful and anxious process with keys. P even carried me over the threshold the first time through the door. :)

Thanks for the encouragement from everyone through this house-hunt... I know last time I filled you in on the house hunt, I was a little bit stressed out (just a tiny little bit). But we had faith in the process and the plan, and knowing that everything happens for a reason (and accepting that fact) helped us get to where we needed to be.

So if you are struggling with the buying process (or anything else) just try to have faith in the little things, the process, and know that it will all line up when it is supposed to and how it is supposed to.

I can't wait to share our new decor ideas with you all!!
